Bully for them.
Over here in Freedomland™ we are about to lose our right to vote ever again.
The decline of Sunak shows how important perceptions are in politics. Once feted as a brilliant money man, he proved utterly incompetent as a leader. And once that slide started he couldn’t stop it.
As far as I know, all the papers have endorsed Labour (probably not the Daily Mail).
Yes Sunak failed dismally as a leader. Though there are other factors at play as well. He inherited a poisoned chalice, due to the several factors, some of which were:
- The Tories had been in power for too many years, and were at the end of the natural cycle of power that occurred in the parliamentary system.
- The decisions of some of his incompetent predecessors that hung over him (especially those of Liz Truss).
- The rise of nationalism/extreme right wing politics, and UKIP/the Reform party eating into the Tory voter base (which has been happening for many years but has escalated in recent years).
He did, however, manage to expedite his own political demise with his clueless detachment from what regular citizens are dealing with and the aftermath of Brexit (which his party was mostly responsible for).

His aunt and uncle are reasonably wealthy (think doctor/lawyer, IIRC), but fairly down to earth people, and even they don’t like him…his own family, I mean I can’t blame them that’s for sure.
Reform is currently eating into the Labour vote in huge amounts also (thus far, we’ve only seen expected Labou results thus far).
Reform is only picking up about 13 seats, with the tories losing around 230. It doesnt look like they were much of a factor.
They got 13% of the vote, even if they didn’t win many seats.
They’re not taking enough votes to win a lot of seats but I bet they’ve taken enough votes to change a few marginal Conservative seats into Labour ones.
I feel like the Tories lost this election rather than labour winning it.
