I personally don’t get all the naysayers. I don’t see enough ads in my day-to-day life and I am stoked that google and others are working on fixing that.
I was so happy when I installed Projectivy. Our home screen now has 3 nice looking ovals – Jellyfin, YouTube, and YouTube TV. If I was the only one in the house it would have one icon…
No ads, no recommendations, just click into the app you want.
I had to do some searching to figure out how to properly set it up and all it took was enabling accessibility access so it could have access to the “Exit” button on my remote. Without that permission, it would still exit to the stock launcher.
Add smarttube
Smart Tube on TV, and ReVanced on mobile! Still the best.
Indeed x)
Remote adb (I think?) was a lot easier than I expected. I recommend changing these tv launchers as quick as possible.
I use Wolf Launcher and it’s great.
I spent a bunch of time getting Projectivy set up all nice. But after using it for a while I realized that it’s effectively unusable due to the long launch time.
That’s annoying. I have an old Nvidia Shield and it’s very fast.
I use this too but when I turn on my tv it always goes to Google. It only goes there if I hit home first. Annoying.
As others have said, you can completely disable the stock launcher through ADB commands. At that point, if you hit home, you’ll be asked which app to perform that action with. Select your launcher, click “Always”, and done.
Oh man. Adb my tv? I’ll admit I haven’t tried that yet.
Google is an advertising company, and just about everything they make is eventually intended to funnel people into their ad platform. Just saying.
Again, how’s that thing better than some Chinese h96 you can get for like $30 and flash armbian on?
