BF4 was an all time favorite game for me, but subsequent games in the franchise were hot garbage. Cautiously optimistic about the next game release.
I enjoyed BF1, but I played the betas for both BF5 and 2042 and was thoroughly disappointed.
BF4 is still great today!
Both V and 2042 have come a long way since their releases. Not as good as peak 4, but still very enjoyable.
In other news: Video Game publishers are grossly out of touch with what people actually enjoy about specific games.
Battlefield was consistently fun because it made you feel like a small part of a massive team in a large-scale conflict.
Battle Royale stands almost opposite to that principle since you’re fighting alone, or in a tiny group, against everyone else.
EA wants a F2P BR game, fine, but they already have one of the best in Apex Legends. The fact that they want to slap the name “Battlefield” on one shows that they have no idea what that name means to people.
Little late to the party there, no? When your FPS is years behind the Vampire: The Masquerade and Age of Empires franchises in having a BR mode (which added it in 2021 and 2020 respectively), despite BR being innately an FPS thing, you’re probably too far behind the curve to get much out of it.
But who knows, maybe it’ll be so good it’ll become their new cash cow. 🤷♂️
Originally there was supposed to be one in 2042 but if I remember correctly they couldn’t get it running in time for launch so it was planned to be added in as post launch content. That was the reason for a lot of the design decisions in the release build of 2042 seeming so disjointed for a traditional battlefield game. I think it’s ridiculous that they’re chasing that. It’s not what the brand has been about since it’s inception and honestly seems further away from what most of us long time battlefield fans want out of the series. That said, we certainly aren’t generating new revenue streams for them so I understand how they have to Make sure that line goes up every year.
Battlefield already has the bones for a BR mode so they might as well. It’s not really novel anymore, at this point it’s just another feature like death matches.
Back in my day it was called “Last Man Standing”.
Firestorm, Battlefield V’s Battle Royale, released in 2019. The news here is not that the feature will exist, it’s that it will be Free To Play.
Firestorm actually introduced the armor system that the much more successful COD Warzone went on to use.
Oh neat, that’s an important detail I was missing. Thanks.
Ew gross
A little late to the party there.
They should just make Bad Company 3 and be done with it.
Didn’t they try doing this like 5 years ago? Lol
