Russia, China, and North Korea are states with nukes pointed at the US. The US has nukes pointed at them as well, of course. There is the possibility for weapons (conventional or otherwise) to be deployed closer to the US as well by many states. I’m not saying I agree with spending money on this nor the message it sends, but the idea is not completely baseless.
I certainly have no plans to fly in the near future. Our air traffic is fucked and boeings are flying trash heaps.
Serious people need to stop allowing trump to insert himself into these situations. He is not capable of navigating these situations and will only cause more lives to be lost while he wastes everyone’s time.

That’s fair. I may generally be a bit over suspicious at times, but the apps definitely struck me as off very early on. As to charging men, while it does suck, I get it. It similar to “ladies’ night” at clubs (do they still do that?). It isn’t hard to get men in the door, but it is significantly harder to get women to attend, oftentimes due to some of the behaviors exhibited by the men. With the gender differences on app usage, it would likely drive that disparity even higher if they charged women.
Non-white nazis are always the most baffling to me. I’ve met a few who aren’t from the west, and while still disgusting, the pathways to the ideology are much clearer, especially being aware of their global efforts (looking at you, India). But when they’re in the US and we’ve had our own history with racism and support of fascism from the beginning, I have to ask, are you hoping to be kept on a leash in the backyard? Perhaps with a little picket house to cower in when the weather flares up?
Will they criminalise denial of the Gaza genocide, you know, the one that is currently underway?
Bubble wasn’t around when I last engaged with dating apps, though I wouldn’t give any app the benefit of the doubt, including in any conceivable future. While there are exceptions to the rule, as you mentioned, I’d say most people will be better off without dating apps, with or without a partner.
I can’t speak to women’s experiences, but as a man, it was pretty clear that these apps were dogshit designed to steal information while keeping you engaged with bots so they can further steal from you, including financially. Much like Facebook, I was an early rejector of dating apps, and I’ve been proven correct on both fronts. From what I can tell, the tech has only gotten better at taking advantage of lonely/stupid men. While dating isn’t really a concern for me anymore, when I was actively dating, it was never difficult to meet women. It just requires a willingness to be open and accept rejection. Also, be willing to cut off interaction for relationships that aren’t healthy. It’s better to be alone than in a shitty relationship.
The craziest part is that things have blown past the worst scenario models, and many are still asleep. Or even worse, think some magical, undiscovered technology will save everyone. The outlook is pretty grim for anyone still around during the second half of the century.
This has been clear for at least 20 years to anybody paying attention. I feel for those who will have to suffer this fate they didn’t cause nor ask for.

The one good thing about trump is that he’s emboldened all these people to go full mask off. Not that Zuckerberg in particular was hiding very well, it’s good to see him and Ms. Chan completely dropping the ruse.
