I actually no longer trust that to be true with how many systems and programs were gutted. I suspect we probably dismantled our early warning systems.
If thats not the case, I still question whether or not this administration would let a blue state get hit when they could prevent it just out of spite.
I work with special needs adults. Your experiences, while valid, with many of those that arent so disabled that they actually can engage with society, do not represent those with more extreme versions of this disability.
Often they will never get to experience the fullness of life they could without. Basically, people with Downs who dont have caretakers with means are fucked pretty hard.
Of the 6 I interact with daily, I think they all would rather not have the disability, and 2 have said they would trade places with the guy in the wheel chair that has seizures sometimes, but is otherwise living a normal life.
In this case, at least lately, it less a brush stroke and more of a high resolution camera.
Once you support extremists, the argument of nuance becomes almost irrelevant to the rest of their victims.
If AI takes all the jobs and there’s no universal basic income, everyone’s new job becomes “freedom fighter”/“terrorist” depending on your leanings.
It’s a nasty can of worms that never should have been opened.
All this also doesn’t take into account how creators gets paid.
It’s a big system, with enough moving parts that I understand the ad/pay model existing. I just wish they weren’t such prices about how they choose to operate it sometimes.
If there’s another president after him, they should just seize the plane since it belongs to the American people anyways. I think the value of a gift that is automatically seized is ludicrously low. I recall nintendo gifting a switch and it was made property of the American People, which usually means it goes to the Smithsonian.

The fact that youtube hits me with an ad for a game that says everyone thinks its fake, with the most bullshit sounding voice over, tells me they are happy to take money for obvious scam products.
I feel like the only way it would work is if they got to keep the money of whoever they killed as long as that person had over a billion dollars… and I would almost be OK with that.
I like to imagine it would reduce the collateral damage the rest of society faces when these people have a dick waving contest.

I think the fundamental problem with the AR glasses is something that can’t be overcome.
I think its easy to see the utility to owning a pair of glasses that look good and provide real time information as desired for what you are looking at or hearing.
HOWEVER, I think very few people will want the product these co.panies will make. This will be a method to throw ads literally in front of your eyeballs. Enshitification is too big of a thing now and so any new product is tainted by the expectation it will rapidly turn to garbage at a high price to you.
Also, while we may think we can be trusted, we dont trust anyone else having all that info, I dont like the obvious privacy implications that these can present. Filming with them is also terrifying.
I was getting a stable 30fps on mid settings. Having played at home at much higher resolution, I see you lose a lot, but its still very playable.
It plays well on the steam deck day 1 as well, if that matters to anyone here. I played the first 2 hours on my deck from work with no issues.
Shaders took like 10 minutes but the rest of the load times were all fine.
I didn’t even get to take off yesterday. Fuck this guy.
