Wahots@pawb.socialto News@lemmy.world•FDA approves Gilead's twice-yearly HIV prevention injection, offering a powerful and convenient new option4·3 天前Honestly, if they could get it to 26 bucks a year, I’d get it just for the 99.9% protection rating. That’s fucking awesome.
Go see a doctor as soon as you can. Also, drink plenty of water.
Wahots@pawb.socialto News@lemmy.world•‘HIV-ending’ drug could be made for just $25 per patient a year, say researchers10·4 天前This is the drug I’m super hyped about. Even if it was $35, it would be life-changing for millions of people.
Wahots@pawb.socialto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•A game you "didn't know it was bad 'til people told you so"?2·4 天前Battlefield 1, I liked its slower-paced combat and need for teamwork for things like ships and the heavy bomber (original, not the super heavy).
It was different than almost all contemporary shooters, and I really found that refreshing. It also had a strong art design and really looked the part for WW1, even if some of the weapons were prototypes or team weapons (which should have been cut, imo) or vehicles were tweaked for gameplay (understandable, the German tanks were extremely tippy, and the French tanks were slower IRL)
Wahots@pawb.socialto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Are other countries as nationalistic/"patriotic" as the US?4·5 天前Turkmenistan has some amazing propaganda and surprisingly, interesting music on the propaganda channels. Never would want to go there, though.
The fuzzy hat horse sing-along segment goes surprisingly hard? 16:31, pre-stamped:

Wahots@pawb.socialto News@lemmy.world•The Tick Situation Is Getting Worse. Here’s How to Protect Yourself. As temperatures rise, ticks of several kinds are flourishing in ways that threaten people’s health.23·5 天前Ticks are one species that I hope go extinct. So gross.
Wahots@pawb.socialto World News@lemmy.ml•Iranian women in the streets: We want an atomic bomb!28·5 天前The Persian empire was pretty big, until Alexander the Great (Greece) kicked their asses. This area has had empires rise and fall for millennia. Iran was the dominant power (and sometime colonizer) western Asia for 12 centuries.
I highly doubt anything will ever bring it peace, it’s the middle east, nuclear proliferation is a terrible idea. And that goes for anyone, any country.
Wahots@pawb.socialto Europe@feddit.org•Limit new car dimensions by 2035: proposal from civil society to the EUEnglish2·6 天前It’s like car valet, but they take your bike and store it in a secure location and hand you a slip of paper with a number on it. A person or two guards the secure location. Usually they are pop-ups at major bike junctions for things like university games, major sporting events, big festivals, bike-focused events and ribbon cutting events.
However, cities like Vancouver BC have seasonal ones that run all summer in shopping areas like Granville Island. They essentially prevent bike theft entirely.
Nazis are like invasive weeds. They grow whenever the land is fertile, but are otherwise dormant when the land isn’t conducive to them.

Here’s one of the puppetmasters of the admin:
Miller looks like one of the Nazis from WW2. The boys at the top.
Wahots@pawb.socialto Europe@feddit.org•Limit new car dimensions by 2035: proposal from civil society to the EUEnglish5·8 天前Our city is fairly dense, so unfortunately there’s no room to build extra parking or even new roads. We have been forced to get creative, but the benefit is that a lot more people are using bikes and rail now that the city core has bike lanes that can get you just about anywhere. The latest development is that women and children are starting to bike in our city, which is a promising sign for safety (North American city).
Our city is still struggling to marry up mass transit with last mile transit such as bikes, ebikes and other PEVs. The buses and trains are starting to get bike racks that can accommodate modern bikes, but it’s still difficult to find bike lockers or bike valet services downtown, and it’s still too easy to get your bike nicked.
Wahots@pawb.socialto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.ca•Are foldable phones as good/bad as they say?81·8 天前I really liked mine, it was fucking awesome… but a 5¢ ribbon connector failed (understandable) and Samsung only allows repair places to replace both internal and external screens and the hinge mechanism for $600 (not understandable).
I ended up getting a moto stylus 5g for $250 and threw the fold right into the landfill.
It is excellent for reading the paper, but make sure you get one from a company that allows for repairability. I never abused my phone or even dropped it.

Wahots@pawb.socialto Europe@feddit.org•Limit new car dimensions by 2035: proposal from civil society to the EUEnglish8·8 天前Just do what we do here, and have like, six parking spots at a beach, and ticket anyone who parks illegally. It encourages bike and bus use :)
Wahots@pawb.socialto News@lemmy.world•Troops and marines deeply troubled by LA deployment: ‘Morale is not great’14·8 天前They shouldn’t be there. The national guard is for fighting wildfires and vaccinating hundreds of thousands of people during the pandemic. They are not to be abused for idiotic political reasons, especially for protests with very few bad apples.
Ah, that’s exactly what mine does sometimes.
Since 2020, we started dating two years later. We’re married now :)
They take a long time to dry on tumble low. I recommend washing them in the morning, lol.
I don’t do them too often, usually every 6mo. But it gets the musty/sweaty smell out of them. And if you are allergic to dust mites, it helps.
