I also explained my viewpoint and expected to hear what they think, i.e. tried to have a normal conversation. But we’re on the internet, so yeah…

Why are you on an online forum if communicating with other people is such a burden for you? lol
Is there data to support this? I imagine if a fire breaks out in an apartment and I don’t wake up in time, I’m fucked anyway. Hopefully smoke detectors in all rooms will do their job.
Does it help? Normally you need to open windows on (preferably) different sides of the building, otherwise the air hardly moves. If a door closed, the movement is blocked.

Technology@lemmy.world•Valve antitrust lawsuit reportedly reveals lengths Steam owner is willing to go to prevent cheaper prices elsewhereEnglish
11·2 days agoI’d question even if this is true. OP wrote it like they read the contract lol.
But even if it’s true, it’s not like publishers have a choice. You can’t say no and not release your game on steam because it’s the biggest store by far. Valve is literally abusing its monopoly to reinforce its monopoly.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•An honest discussion in the current state of the FediverseEnglish
111·2 days agoThere are many reasons, but I think the ultimate explanation is that the fediverse isn’t even trying to compete with corporate-owned networks.
There are just too many things that confuse regular users - things they don’t need to think about on mainstream platforms, such as how to discover new content, why there are different servers, dramas around instance admins, and so on. You actually have to want to be here to overcome these obstacles.
And this is by design. The fediverse is many projects created and managed by many people. There is no single entity that could optimize the user experience and promote a single service.
So yeah, the fediverse is insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Is that a problem to solve? I’m not sure. The fediverse is a real alternative precisely because it’s different.

31·7 days agoPointless exaggerations aren’t inevitable either, but you adopted and shared one. Pointless and “witty” exaggerations won’t change the outcome of the process though. Which is why robust and transparent AI policies are required.

So does the dude who introduced this policy btw. They did this because they’re flooded with low-quality PRs, not because AI only produces slop.

From what I read across this thread, you don’t seem to have any real incentive to switch to linux. But you can always install it and see how it goes. You can later go back to windows if you want.
