I know Bernie thanked all the first responders but I also want to thank the people who decided buildings should have sprinkler systems in them, which is ultimately what suppressed the fire. Engineered safety systems are a person’s best friend.

Remember this the next time a conservative tries to advocate for removing or preventing new regulations in the name of “cutting red tape” and other pro-business nonsense. Especially when those regulations are about safety. If we didn’t have those, people would still be dying en-masse in mines due to silicosis and other lung conditions. And car manufacturers would limit their safety systems (including seatbelts) in order to minimize costs.
