The irony of Netflix trying to do a remake for a notoriously long running show…

Really hope they’re committed to this and don’t lose interest after two seasons.

Although I guess this might be one of those situations where it’s primarily a Japanese company that’s commissioning the show, and Netflix just chucks some money their way for the US/European rights?

IIRC, Netflix is the one pushing the show, came with their plan of making a live action OP.

So yeah, I don’t have my hopes up regarding longevity

Yeah, this show’s got no chance.

Hopefully the two seasons will be great and then people can pickup the original where Netflix leaves off.

Honestly, I feel like you could easily halve the episode count or more of current one piece and lose nothing. I just hope this is a Dragon Ball Kai scenario with new animation.

My understanding is that this is going to be a complete remake starting from the beginning. I expect that the pacing should be a lot better with this remake (in addition to modern visual improvements) so that something like One Pace shouldn’t be necessary with this one.

One Pace is a fan project to edit down the One Piece anime to cut out filler and streamline the pacing of the show. They used to have it all up on a dedicated site, but looks like it’s down right now. Probably the best place for more info right now is on their subreddit at /r/onepace
