The developers of Apex Legends have announced that they’re going to be blocking the game completely on Linux platforms including Steam Deck.
This is a silly beginning of a serious precedent.

That day was years ago. Many banking apps refuse to start if you even just have your bootloader unlocked, and some banking websites only support Chrome, some really crappy ones even only Chrome or Edge on Windows specifically.

I say to this day because the bug was still in there when I stopped playing and they had certainly stopped working on it.

Don’t ruin the game for everyone. The majority of the player base isn’t whining about cheaters, and this is true of pretty much every game. It’s the tryhard comp scene most affected, let them enable it to play comp. At least give us the option to play on non anticheat servers. I hate how every multiplayer game is ruining itself over this garbage.

translates to them cutting off linux support so people will be forced to use approved operating systems like Windows which will require more hardware which means more money for those companies and more intrusive anti cheat software that gives users data away

Yeah I don’t really understand why people care so much. If you don’t like game studios doing stuff like this, just don’t play their games. There are plenty of games out there with great Linux support you can play instead.
Fine if you don’t want as many customers, but I understand the business model is increasingly comparable to gambling and focuses on whales.
