It’s unsurprising considering that just in September Elon Musk in an ego trip decided to ignore security and just started unplugging server cables at random, which caused damages lasting even today.
(Context: a server needed to be moved with incredibly careful procedures. Elmo thought he knew better and decided to ignore all the protocols that are meant to stop damage)
This guy is the trump of the tech industry. Every time he does shit like this it makes you think “no… he couldnt have… could he?” Look it up, find out its true and have the first wtf of the day.
Yeah lmao. Personally I only found out when I was told about it by a friend who happens to work on exactly these kind of things. I’m surprised this isn’t covered more by the news.
Did you know Elmo also at first refused to secure the servers (as in the physical boxes) meaning anyone could easily steal them and when the INTENSE danger of theft and data leaks was pointed out to him he threw a tantrum before putting a fucking 5 dollar padlock on the door that held the disconnected servers at the time?
As in the kind of padlock that is notorious for being bog easy to pick and sometimes opens just by bashing it. THAT kind of fucking padlock.
This reminds me of Trump just throwing a bunch of classified nuclear weapons documents in some unlocked storage closet at marlago.
Oh you mean the one that a child can literally open with pieces of a soda can?
I used to open mine with a drop kick in high school lul. They’re so janky.
Yea it’s a fuckin wild story. The man hired a bunch of guys off the street to pack them up into the trailers as he crawled u see the floors to start unplugging shit. It cause havoc to a bunch of software that specifically called to the data center that the Lego master so skillfully dismantled in the dead of night and has had knock on effects since that moment. In addition, a ton of highly sensitive data was on those servers that was supposed to have significant security measures taken to protect, which the man directly ignored saying that a padlock on the trailer was enough.
How he wasn’t sued by the data center and every company that had servers in there is shocking to me. Also how is it not some form of crime to hand millions of peoples personal data to some guys off the street?
At this point, dont even acknowledge the name change. Just keep calling it Twitter if everyone is going to do the “X formerly known as Twitter” thing for all of time.
It’s Xitter. With the Chinese pronunciation of the ‘X’.
I’m gonna guess the prononciation is something like “sh”?
Yep!
yup. it’s twitter, just twitter. a service run by a twit.
Twat
In a way, I kind of like “social media platform X” - not that the name change isn’t stupid, but Elon wants “X” to be a ubiquitous thing that everyone knows. “X, formerly Twitter” can’t go on forever, but at least this subtly says “you know, that thing with the ridiculous name that wouldn’t really make sense if we didn’t tell you what it was because it’s a fucking letter”
It doesn’t sound like suffering to me.
Hopefully the next one is permanent
Elmo must be trying to dodge some infrastructure bills here.
Actually Elmo personally damaged infrastructure in september because there was supposed to be a server move but he thought all the precautions were bogus so he just went in there himself and started yanking + disconnecting cables at random
Ever since, Twitter hadn’t recovered from the intense damage caused and is experiencing issues
I hope this is real
The wrong X died
He would always deliver to me :(
Just put it out of it’s misery. Pull the plug
Fortunately, nothing of value was lost.
This is the best summary I could come up with:
Social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, suffered global outages for just over an hour on Thursday.
According to Downdetector.com, which tracks outages by collating status reports, more than 47,000 US users faced access issues with X and X Pro.
The hashtag #TwitterDown started trending within minutes of reports of the outages emerging.
Since Mr Musk bought the platform, it has been suffering from a loss of advertising revenue.
The company has since sued a left-leaning pressure group, Media Matters for America, which made the accusation.
Last month, Elon Musk slammed advertisers that left X, saying they would kill the social media platform.

im really surpised anyone notices
Christmas came early
It’s unavoidable. Such a big and complex department with such bad (even careless) management, it’s due to happen.
Good.
