The U.S. government has recognized Venezuelan opposition candidate Edmundo González as the “president-elect” of the South American country, months after President Nicolás Maduro claimed to have won the July election.

To the surprise of absolutely nobody.
Whether or not there was election fraud, which there probably was, but likely not much more than is common in states like Texas or Florida, the US will keep calling other people the president of Venezuela until one succeeds in ACTUALLY becoming president.
At which point US companies suddenly get access to the Venezuelan oil reserves, which is of course TOTALLY unrelated 🙄
What, exactly, will this mean in real terms?
Exactly the same as 2019, when the US recognized Juan Guaido as President. Sooooo, nothing.
