Over 170 million fake reviews were removed from Maps and Search thanks to Google’s new algorithm::undefined
Okay cool. Now publish that stat on the businesses so I can see which ones are cool with lying to potential customers and avoid them.
Nooo, data protection yada-yada…
business partners’ trust yada-yada…
ambiguity of responsability yada-yada…
No.
Seems like an easy response. Fake reviews are fraud and against the TOC. But then again you could fake reviews for a competitor and tank their rating.
Goodhart’s law is a pain.
Just checked to see if a local pizzeria still has their fake reviews & yep, Marco Polo pizza in Myrtle beach still has fake reviews coming in. Even a few people calling them out. That’s one of the scummiest businesses in the area.
They certainly know how to find them, am I right (nudges J12)?
I opened a google account and wrote two genuine reviews. Both were rejected automatically. I pressed a button to let them check again, they were again rejected.
I deleted my account again and remembered why I deleted my first account a few years ago. Google sucks, they can’t controll their own algorythms, they are a faceless mega corp that harvests data like crazy. Everyones life would be better, if google vanished from the face of earth right now.
lol … it’s very easy to identify the fake reviews when you were the one that allowed them in the first place
