That’s a good shout. I think I’ll do that in the coming weeks :).
Please consider donating to the Open Medicine Foundation to help people suffering from extremely disabling and underfunded lifelong illnesses with no know treatment.

I am bridged, but I prefer not to share my handle as my Mastodon and Bluesky accounts are have full name, while I want to keep the lemmy ones anonymous.
“fatigue” being in the name was one of the reasons it used to be dismissed as psychological.
But now, especially with the help of long covid, we’ve found a distinct clinical entity, with clear physical markings, Complement system overractivation, T-cell exhaustion, WASF3-caused mitochondrial dysfunction etc.
That’s because whoever wrote this has little clue what they are talking about.
What they are calling “long fatigue” is medically known as “post-acute infection syndrome” and contains hundreds of symptoms which don’t necessarily include fatigue.
It can be caused by both viral and bacterial infections, Lyme being one of the bacterial ones.
I hate when the media tries to “simplify” the name to “fatigue”.
There’s a reason the medical profession has abandoned the terms post-viral fatigue syndrome and chronic fatigue syndrome as names, in favour of Post-Actute Infection Syndrome, and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis
They are extremely inaccurate names, these conditions can cause hundreds of symptoms and fatigue isn’t always one of them.
It’s an incredibly minimising name when these conditions are known to have caused death, and can cause people to lose the ability to speak or digest in severe cases. “Fatigue” is something healthy people experience too.
But the media always loves “dumbing it down” to “fatigue”.
This is really cool.
Which of these make their data publically available?
Because the greatest scientific contribution would not be hording the data so you can publish your paper, but making it freely available, so any group of researchers can look through it and contribute to scientific knowledge by analysing the findings in different ways
I completely understand.
I’m sick of seeing people like this in my feed and my blocklists are crazy long.
And, social media, these days nearly as important, if not more important.
You (very understandably) hear a lot about state-sponsored (especially Russian) astroturfing, but very little about billionaire and company sponsored astroturing, which is very much a thing.
I didn’t say logging. I said forest management.
We need to control the brush and dead wood, indigenous fire control practices were very effective at this.
they are forks, lemmygrad, hexbear are integrated with many major lemmy instances
Not sure exactly what you’re asking, but it’s opt in.
So since I opted in, my mastodon account is shown as a bluesky account on bluesky.
But I can only follow bluesky accounts from mastodon if they’ve opted into the bridge, which seems to be a decent number, but still a small proportion. And the replies to my posts that are on bluesky, will only be visible to me from mastodon if the people replying have opted into the bridge.
I’m not using mastodon much anyways, because there are too little people there who care about what I post, but I use a service to post which automatically posts on mastodon / bluesky (and until last week when i opted out, twitter), so I’ll still be posting to mastodon even though it’s only for a handful of people compared to my 8k bluesky followers.
Man these “science communication” websites have become really clickbaity and exaggerate everything with barely any critical lens.
Yeah it works fine. My mastodon account has gained 40 followers from bluesky even though I have a bluesky account too!
perhaps. but the open source moderation list feature seems pretty cool, hopefully it’ll help.
Need better forest management.
The problem (except for climate change), is that historically these forests would have small burns every year or two which didn’t impact the trees, but kept shrubbery and dead wood in check.
We’ve become hypervigilant and put out those fires now. Which means we have tons of shrubbery and dead wood accumulated over decades, which would normally naturally be burned away every year or two, but we can’t burn it now, because it’s so much mass that the heat would reach a temperature that would also burn the trees.
So instead we’re stuck in this horrible hypervigilant loop, and when there’s a fire that inevitably happens and we can’t control, again because so much dead wood and shrubbery was left to accumulate, it destroys entire forests and ecosystems.
Don’t wanna freak you out, but you’re doing the right thing by isolating and resting.
I was young and healthy, then long COVID fucked me up, am now permanently bedridden.
Part of the reason is because I tried to do too much (and had surgery) while my body had COVID so I never got a chance to recover.
Also they only follow a single person??
Like how do they expect their feed to be customised and filled with stuff they enjoy, when all they do is follow 1 person and make political posts and posts such as “bluesky sucks, mastodon is best”.
And that’s not to say it’s any use getting diagnosed, because there are no approved treatments, and the social security organisations barely recognise it.
Even though NASEM, the CDC, and NIH told them too.
I mean it connects to lemmy, kinda like mbin.
