Sure but then I get someone making an unnecessarily critical and destructive comment and my post turns to shit and nobody participates anymore because they’re too fixated on the comment and start down voting the thread instead.

I recently made a post on AskLemmy and the third guy commenting just started casting doubts on what I shared even though it was an anecdote and it’s something that happens where I live. My story’s sole purpose was to generate interest and get people commenting. But nooo, I can’t do that because what happened is inconceivable in their country so it must be impossible everywhere else! Lemmy always knows best. Fuck it, nuked.

To be fair, the person shot & killed at the march was an accident trying to stop a shooter, and the kid who drove the car hurt at most one person who didn’t need emergency services. The one with a real agenda was the killer dressed as a cop who had delusions of killing 50+ without realizing he’d be hunted down and caught after the first.

Yes, they’re getting violent, and yes, they have plans, but don’t give them any more credit than they deserve and scare people. Don’t over- or underestimate your enemy.

Good point, I don’t know. According to him, they were seriously threatened, and they were fresh out of school. But note that our justice system used to be incredibly corrupt. For example, I know two people who have been incarcerated for over a year and extorted by police, and one other who was jailed to prevent him from running for office by the opposition.
