I agree, but welcome to the world we live in.
Probably the exception to the rule. I did as well, and constantly find myself at a loss for how it simply doesn’t occur to most people to stop and think about something for a split second as opposed to just impulsively doing whatever.
Yeah but some people get off on it, like that being in the company of the rich and powerful increases their social stock (in their own insular world), and some thrive on that type of stuff.
I’ve been happy on lemme.ee for the fact that they didn’t get caught up in the defederation drama about a year ago, and that they’re mainly a neutral landing instance to go about interacting with other communities on other instances. Other instances will defederate with instances they disagree with, a form of censorship in itself, whereas the admins of lemm.ee leave it to you to block what you don’t want to see yourself.
Nevermind that the republicans won the presidency, both houses of Congress, and already have the supreme Court. It’s more like, “the fuck you gonna do about it?” If anything, they’re looking for reasons to oust any sitting democrat in which they’ll install someone loyal to their cause because let’s be real, the rules are out the window at this point.
Then???
Profit. That’s pretty much it. Why does anyone seek excess power in a capitalist society? Personal wealth gain. That insider info allows them to make their winning stock trades, and the “perks” they receive from their high offices (think private jet travel, free meals, tickets to events, etc) ensure that their expenses are kept at a minimum. Their lavish lifestyles while we struggle, and the fact that they could help resolve society’s problems yet don’t to keep the status quo, is the epitome of “fuck you, I got mine.”
Got PakOS, but since I’m not Pakistani I’m not sure how useful it would be
Same here in California
I don’t think it was necessarily scripted, but it wasn’t raw boxing. Nor could it be, given the contenders. Once Tyson ran out of gas, any other boxer would’ve gone for the KO, while Paul just kinda danced around to drag out the latter rounds. It was clearly an exhibition to get them both paid, not a real match.
Nah, boxing ruined boxing with their ass-backwards scoring and match decision-making. Look at Mayweather vs Pacquiao, or even Taylor vs Serrano, where that latter clearly had the upper hand in their respective fights, but the decision went to the formers on technicalities and judging particulars. It’s disenchanting to many spectators to see a fight where, betting aside, the majority of people view the fight as going one direction while a small minority place the outcome differently.
Netflix probably didn’t want to pay his fee, which I’m sure is up there given that he is 80
It definitely helped that it was on Netflix. That was the difference, at least for me. There is absolutely no way in hell I would’ve paid for a PPV of that, but given that my wife already has Netflix, it was more of an “eh, why not” type of thing.
Taylor vs Serrano was 100% worth it, that was rad.
Lol all good man. It certainly seems like everyone has their own interpretation of generational cutoffs, but you make a good point of how people born near the cusps can swing either way in terms of identity.
Hell yeah. I save all of our scrap copper over 6awg, and use it at the end of the year towards my employees’ bonuses.
I was under the impression that gen x started in the mid 60s, whereas 65 would put this guy at 1959ish
Uncle Winnie
There’s a dude in our town that has a lot where everyone dumps their scrap metal and he takes it to recycle. It’s pretty rad since our local trash service won’t take it (even though they dump everything together, including recyclables, at the transfer station to be hauled off to the dump out of town).
Elmo’s little satellite Internet project will never hold a candle to the international fiber backbone networks, especially tier 1 networks.
