100% agree, I feel if people chill out and accept imperfection they’d get more people on their side.
reducto absurdum, I’m just trying to make a point / get a message across.
I’d be surprised if anyone here flies a private jet.
Yes there is no true way to live ethically, you will cause the death of hundreds of vibrates just by being alive.
Fair enough,
The point I’m trying to make is there are many ways to live more ethically, If you’re a vegan but fly a private jet, you don’t give a fuck about the environment, you’re just pretending you do.
You could also not be a vegan and care more about the environment than a lot of vegans.
I knew a militant vegan who removed the emissions filter from his diesel car, and tuned it to ‘roll coal’ (emit tons of smoke) because he thought it was cool.
There’s a lot of nuance
That’ll do the trick
You’d need ~1.2kg of beans for that
That’s 3 cans, where I live that costs a lot more than 400g of chicken. And it would suck to eat that much beans.
And calling out some hypocrisies.
Most people are only willing to make sacrifices for animals/the-environment as long as it suites their lifestyle.
OMG I’ll never eat fish that’s murder. 😡
12h+ flight flight to go on holiday 🥺👉👈 Whoopsie
I can get 100g of protein from chicken or fish for dirt cheap, and it’s delicious.
What would be the cheapest way to get 100g of protein from vegan options?
Same is true for Flying:
“Sure Flying burns huge amounts of fuel, releases greenhouse gases high in the atmosphere, and contributes to the climate damage, but my holidays and travel time is more important”
Devils Advocate: Some reasons outweigh others.
The list of why you should never get on a airplane is also very long.

1·il y a 2 moisAs someone who develops apps for a life. and has ~15 years experience building software.
It does not fucking double the work, developing the app is 90% of the work.
Changing the name and releasing 10 of them doesn’t add a lot more work.

1·il y a 3 moisThey don’t have to create two apps, it feels like you’re trying really hard to strawman the situation.
There are a few apps already that support both Lemmy and PieFed, saying create two apps, implies doubling the work. When it’s not that at all, it’s just adding compatibility where one differs from the other. Lemmy and PieFed are 90% the same thing, if not more.

1·il y a 3 moisWhat do you mean by if users don’t read instructions the fediverse has no hope to survive? Literacy on instagram etc. is probably not very high, yet it’s one of the biggest platforms.
Also making it clearer what the app supports doesn’t double the work for devs.

2·il y a 3 moisJust an idea, but maybe releasing two apps (even if they’re exactly the same.
Eg.
“Lemmy through Blorp” And “PieFed through Blorp”
That way when people search for either, your app pops up first, and there’s no confusion as to if it’s the correct app.

Just because someone speed reads and missed the ‘piefed’ part, like I did.
Doesn’t automatically put them in what ever box you just created and want to gatekeep.

42·il y a 3 moisI am literally one of the people who read like that.
It’s not just about disabilities, a lot of people will read like that. It’s inefficient to fully read everything when you’re scanning options to find something you’re looking for.

I daily Linux, have for 18 months, but this feels one sided.
Linux has been great, but it’s not been without issues.
Does Linux really perform better with not dropping low frames?
