And time for the USA to ban vaccines and infectious disease research, thanks to RFK Jr.
And time for the USA to ban vaccines and infectious disease research, thanks to RFK Jr.
It’s OK, if RFK Jr goes ahead and eliminates vaccines and infectious disease research, as he has stated he will, it’s likely something else will kill us first.
I don’t. I don’t like Musk at all, but this business of calling him a lady as an insult feels like we slipped back a few decades. It has a bad taste about it.
Can you give a citation for this strong evidence?
Probably because the point seems moot given that Trump and the Republicans intend to help Israel even more.
Pretty much everyone is. The Supreme Court basically ruled that laws don’t apply to the President.
That’ll go nicely with the voluntary pandemics.
In isolation, no one can do anything. But if people organize in large numbers and share the risk, they can be a real force of resistance.
Invading private homes with US Troops, looking for contraban (ie: illegal immigrants in this case) with mass warrants would be uncomfortable to even Republicans in these areas.
I agree that it’s worth trying. If Republicans can be persuaded that the “deep state” is becoming more intrusive it might provoke some questioning on their part. But I fear they would just retreat to “Those people must have done something to bring it upon themselves,” and “It won’t happen to me or my friends.” Until it does, when they’ll be shocked but also silenced.
Trump’s plan for Ukraine is to give Putin everything he wants, and for Gaza and the West Bank it’s to give Netanyahu everything he wants. That’s what Trump has always meant when he says he can bring peace.
If the left can organize to transform this disappointment into actual resistance, that will be worth something. Right now I think mass civil disobedience is the only thing that can really slow down the implementation of fascism, but it needs to be organized and we don’t yet see anyone stepping up to organize real resistance.
the national level outrage and blatant racism on the troop’s faces will be shown for everyone
And what will anyone be able to do about it? That’s the problem with installing a fascist autocracy. Outrage does not deter fascists. The left needs to organize and be prepared to physically obstruct these actions, and that is not going to be without danger.
chanting antisemitic slogans, in service of an Arab and Persian Islamic holy war, against the Jews
Absolutely ridiculous. These people oppose Israel’s daily massacre of civilians. That is all.
I have to stop hoping it’s not going to be the worst, most stupid, most damaging decision possible in every single area, every day. Bird flu and mpox are watching this guy’s policies with keen interest.
Masks are for hiding from responsibility, not for acting responsibly. Acting responsibly is the way of the enemy.
Socialism isn’t even on offer these days. What Republicans consider socialist stretches all the way from communism to conservatism.
Apple’s processors may be impressive these days, but that doesn’t make up for the fact that their computers are getting ever less useful.
This interview with Sarah Smarsh is good:

She says that the Republicans were the party that validated working class voters’ pain, even if the rest of what they said was a pack of lies and they plan to help the rich and harm the poor. The Democrats didn’t even get this far: they repeatedly ignored working class suffering while insisting the economy was good and making promises to help the “middle class” (whoever that is these days). Given the choice between one party that says “we hear your pain” and another that says “you’re too ignorant to realize things are actually going well” it’s not surprising which party got the working class votes. It’s just a shame the Republicans don’t actually plan to help these people.
I don’t see why you’d choose Edge. And you don’t need a VM to run it in Linux - there are Linux packages readily available.
They’re not going to stop it, just seriously disincentivize it. Pulling billions of dollars of research funding and making it doubtful whether any developed vaccine can be sold in the USA will have a huge effect on the ability of academic institutions to do research and the willingness of corporations to do so.
