  • “So I said, ‘Let me ask you a question, and [the guy who makes boats in South Carolina] said, ‘Nobody ever asked this question,’ and it must be because of MIT, my relationship to MIT —very smart. He goes, I say, ‘What would happen if the boat sank from its weight? And you’re in the boat and you have this tremendously powerful battery and the battery is now underwater and there’s a shark that’s approximately 10 yards over there?’”

At this point, Trump apparently decided to pursue this tangent in earnest. “By the way, a lot of shark attacks lately, do you notice that, a lot of sharks?" he asked. "I watched some guys justifying it today. ‘Well, they weren’t really that angry. They bit off the young lady’s leg because of the fact that they were, they were not hungry, but they misunderstood what who she was.’ These people are crazy. He said there’s no problem with sharks. ‘They just didn’t really understand a young woman swimming now.’ It really got decimated and other people do a lot of shark attacks.”

Oh, absolutely. I’ve never used anything bigger than a 6, but driven a few 40k# 4WD tractors that are putting down 6 or 700 hp with much smaller displacement engines than that, though I wonder about comparative duty cycles since they’ll never see more than about 7-10k hours before an overhaul. I also see 3406s with way more hours than that without rebuilds, or maybe just a cylinder done in their lifetimes.

  • As someone that’s used a pile of Heltec Lora V3: they’re fragile pieces of overpriced shit. I’ve kept buying them as they’ve kept failing and I think I’ve purchased about a dozen in order to keep 2 devices alive, and the latest two are only a few weeks old. I’ve had a brand new one just stop working as I’ve programmed it for the first time, and I handle these things with an ESD strap on because I think they’re just really poorly protected.

I’m porting my project (a solar pump with radio linked trough float) to eByte e32s and a standard ESP32 because I’m tired of having these things crater if I look at them sideways.
