“Labour shortage”
I’m not wholly against TFWs, there are definitely situations where they make sense. However there is zero reason why fast food and restaurants brought in 8,000 TFWs in 2023.

Better bring in some TFWs for those high skill Tim Hortons jobs.
Pretty much every job has a do t talk to journalists clause.
Every company I’ve worked for has it.
We just call Doug Ford (the Premier of Ontario) directly on his personal cell phone and he shows up with his tiny shovel.
I’d shop at Loblaws if the quality was better.
But why pay premium for worse vegetables than metro and worse meat than Costco?
Potatoes should not go bad after a week, that was the least straw for me.
Yeah, just disrespectful to veterans in my opinion
Prefix to my comment:
Oct 7th was an atrocity deserving of the harshest of backlash. It was in no way justified despite the unfair and frustrating issue of Israeli settlement and the division of Palestine by colonial powers in the 20th century. Israel’s response has been too aggressive in how they’ve fully disregarded humanitarian aid in their undiscerning destruction of Gaza in the year since.
Now my comment:
I think it was insensitive and stupid to play this song on a day to remember our troops who gave their lives or continue to fight for Canadian freedom and sovereignty. I don’t think it added to the cause of Gaza, I think it just distracted and created more division.
Really it was a foolish thing to do.
Stupid performative bullshit is so hot right now
I did like him yelling at those hecklers.
Oh my god, in a few years we’ll lose them completely!

When parties have unfavourable leaders who spend all their time quibbling nobody shows up to vote.
Everyone I know was saying Mike Schreiner was the only adult in the room but Green was a wasted vote, and all Doug had to do was say nothing to win.
That’s certainly a problem, but in general he does not come across as working class, he comes across as quite wealthy. He also doesn’t get policy into the news often enough, despite some things on their platform sounding good.
And then he hasn’t done anything to assuage concerns NDP policy will be bad for the economy, which if you look at the US it’s clear the perception of being good for the economy is at the forefront of everyone’s minds (whether or not that’s based in reality).
I did have someone mention they felt that having a Sikh PM would not be good with escalating tensions with India. That line felt kinda racist to me. I don’t think that’s why he doesn’t connect with voters though.
Banks have been trying to dump “high risk” (based on their own systems) clients with as a recession risk.
They’re reducing credit limits and increasing interest rates to lower unsecured debt ratios.
I’m in agreement with you that I don’t want the government to be fiddling with the pipes of the internet like that.
They could restrict Canadian ad buying, merchandise purchases via credit card, and restrict app store use, and that would do something.
I just feel like this gesture is symbolic at best. We haven’t done anything about the security concerns.
We should be building a domestic tech industry so we don’t see all the value extracted elsewhere.
I’m not sure how closing their domestic office while not banning or ordering significant changes accomplishes anything.
It really just hurts Canadian tech workers who will take contractor roles with the TikTok US office. I’ve met a few TikTok employees and they’re actually very high caliber workers, so it would be a shame to lose them (though I disagree with the ownership of TikTok and refuse to use it).
If anything we should take a page out of China’s book and require an office where we hold the leadership directly accountable for those security concerns, which frankly 99% of people don’t understand or care about.
The outcome is not good for Canada and is deeply bad for several issues I care deeply about.
I do hope this drives introspection here about how our working class feels and has been struggling, and that it drives political change before we see a sweeping conservative majority in the next election.
Sure, Hitler passed some of the first anti-smoking laws.
That doesn’t excuse all the other awful awful things he did.
Also his anti smoking laws failed as the war went on longer and longer.
It’s hard to say what will happen, but I think the Trump presidency will push some away from Polievre. I don’t think it will make a difference unless the NDP and Liberals change their leadership though.
This might be good for Ontarians, as we are looking at an election soon.
I’ve only ever seen this in the original VHS
