This post is a little gory, but that’s nature for you. I do believe this jay had killed some house sparrows as they’re thick near this spot. House sparrows are invasive and outcompete many native species here. They also kill other nestlings, so in a way this jay is keeping the balance. Saying all that and gore aside, I love these photos. Some of my favorites I’ve taken yet.

bluejays are violent little hate machines. I’ll take an angry robin over a bluejay any day.

amazing! do you think it would eat the flesh? or throw it away?
They do eat other birds too. I like to think it’s bringing the leftovers back for its mate.
