    …and technically any of those work for the answer! Germany arguably started a regional war, and America didn’t join until Japan attacked, and it wasn’t a world war until America joined.

      American take: the war spanning 4 continents is not a world war because america is not part of it.

        Probably just forgot about Canada’s involvement before the US and thought it involved 3 continents before the US joined.

          I also forgot Canada …

          Still Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia/Oceania without Canada.

          And both east/west ends of Asia at the same time is already kind of 2 continents in itself.
