…they think you’re lying. Or stupid.

These kinda posts (not from the Lemmy poster, the OP) always feel self-masturbatory: “ugh, why are they against all these clearly good things?!” Rhetorical questions are only helpful if the listener is receptive to the rhetoric, else the questions are just daft.

Their own base lies to them about what laws will do and how it will affect them, they just think the opposition is worse at it. Anything the opposition says that sounds good is either a lie or frivilous because it also affects “people who don’t need it.” Everything the opposition does that conservatives don’t like is their true goal.

The US has always embraced the “Got mine, fuck you” way of life.

The American dream is to become rich and powerful while others remain poor, not a fair world where everyone is equal

There’s also the misconception that the wealth that has been generated comes from exactly this mindset instead of the real reason -> geography.

If we can learn anything from the New Deal, American priorities are pretty simple.

Oh no, black people can be housed while sick!

Oh no, black people would have workers’ rights!

Oh no, black people would have livable wages!

Oh no, black people won’t be subsumed by corporate greed

Oh no, black people would afford food while unemployed!

Oh no, black people would spend time with their family!

Oh no, black people could get educated!

What kind of society are “Americans” striving for? A white one.

They’re told they won’t have Arby’s and that some fascist asshole will call himself king…

The “Red Scare” was deep and long-lasting propaganda.

I remember working at that shithole decades ago and applying for their new credit card. their fliers had claims of “anyone can get it” and “no rejections”. well I was rejected based on my meager salary.

Luckily I brought my results with me for my yearly review and used it as leverage for a pay increase. a whole ten cents!

after that I stopped taking them seriously because they were an absolute joke of a company.

fuck Walmart. fuck everything they stand for. fuck every store, fuck every manager, fuck every person that enables that shithole company.

it will be a cold day in hell before I ever give them another cent, let alone ten.
