I think you might have misstated this. You’re not against science, you’re against what you consider to be wasteful spending on something you think has little value. Science itself is a disciplined and methodical approach to understanding the world based on facts and evidence. How and why science is funded and used is a completely different thing. There is science that is funded simply for pure research, where the only value is knowledge. Then there is science that is funded with the expectation, not just of knowledge, but of an intended use of that knowledge. Your question seems to be related to why we don’t spend money on the more practical uses of science.
