I’m surprise that they’re aware of Mitchell and Webb; not even non-anglosphere westerners know what it is and they consume a lot of American pop culture; I guess British is just too odd for them. Lol

    • You’d be surprised how much brit culture upper middle class people from the global south consume. Once i heard a comedian from a latin american country say: The upper class aspires to be British and, the middle class aspires to be American, and the lower class aspires to be Mexican. And their media consumption kind of reflects that.

it’s hard to imagine anyone desiring the attain the socioeconomic status of a mexican, since the mexicans i know can’t afford basic things; like a roof on their house.

        • You’re clearly unfamiliar with the cultural makeup of the rest of Latin America, and the context of the joke i was remembering, yet you managed to throw in a chauvinistic remark. I’m sure all Mexican people don’t have a roof over their house, especially the ones shown in the media that’s consumed elsewhere in Latin America. I forgot only white people could come up with roofs.

it’s chauvinistic if you’re referring to all mexicans as a theoritical group of people you don’t know; while i’m literally referring to my relatives whose roofs i had to pay for myself because they couldn’t afford it for their own families.
