Just wait until they discover this and Trump makes a bill to have the cars go the other way around.

NASCAR has a street race, with corners: https://www.nascarchicago.com/

    It’s actually really cool:

Honestly more fun than the boring Yas Marina F1 championship layout:

Also, many tracks like Daytona have real circuits, and it’s my opinion that nascar should use them.

Check out formula e. It is electric race cars and they can get bonus power by driving in a particular part of the track. They used to let fans vote to give cars a boost too but i think it’s discontinued.

I think nascar already has a virtual banana peel. They also stop the race right before the end, then restart and hope for crashes then.

When they started redesigning the cars to be safer in the late 90s I’m pretty sure they were doing it because 80%+ of the audience at those races were there to see crashes.

Extreme E has boost, and is probably the most fun racing I’ve seen. Cars flip and keep going, and are lucky to make it to the finish line in one piece, lol.

That’s why they have DRS now. Purple shell that chassis.

Just finished watching the 24hrs of Daytona where they use that infield track layout this week. It’s free on YouTube from IMSA!

3 classes of cars fighting for places through traffic for 24hrs. It’s absolutely wild, and the commentators are definitely fighting fatigue with sometimes extremely random sidetracks too.

        The traffic is mad!

Infield is a bit narrow, but the bus stop and turn one are insane. The ease all those drivers do it with makes it look way too easy.

Super stoked to think that a Mustang I drive won the Daytona 24hr for LMGTD class

There are 6 road races on the calendar this year. 5 of those have been on there for multiple years. 1 is at an oval/road course. They have been running at road courses for a very long time, just in proportionally small numbers.

NASCAR’s more woke than many conservatives are comfortable with. They banned the Confederate flag several years back, actively chased down racists leaving nooses lying around the black guy’s area, more I can’t remember (which is frustrating because they’ve done plenty of other sensible things).

LOL, found this searching “NASCAR woke”:

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/motorsports/nascar-faces-fans-fury-over-woke-agenda-what-has-happened-to-the-daytona-500/ar-AA1yM19H

You gotta admit, an EV NASCAR would suck. The whole thing in going to see a race is the pure thunder of the thing. I’ve never been, never been a fan. My ex used to go with her dad. Sounds like a blast setting up camp, like tailgating but much more.

Anyway, they’re reaching out to a broader audience, not just us redneck honkys (sp?). I don’t think the decline is due to said rednecks boycotting, I think people are simply losing interest.
