I basically read what everyone here is quick to say to laugh at him at having gone from emperor to broomsweep, but apparently he was actually an example of an excellent success at bringing him down to earth with his fellow countrymen. No one here ever mentions this aspect; I only discovered this when I got curious and looked up his wikipedia page.
In all seriousness I actually see almost nobody being like “haha what a loser he had to sweep the streets”. I guess I just assumed everyone here knew his story already, it’s been posted probably half a dozen times or more over the years and is referenced regularly. But its such a good story I don’t mind seeing it crop up again. The anecdotes about him and his wife in this post actually made me tear up a little.
Admittedly I didn’t see these sentiments (clearly I don’t browse hexbear enough), but I have seen people here make fun of him for his fall from grace (though admittedly I couldn’t remember the posts as it’s been a while); his story after his change is absolutely touching to be honest, and the love he has for his wife must be something he could never have imagined before his reeducation.
