hi there. my partner recently bought a ninja air fryer secondhand that unfortunately has a layer of rust inside the cook pot and on the removable grill we couldn’t see in the pictures. any suggestions on what to use to clean it up? is it even safe to prepare food in?

if it’s relevant it’s one of the “single basket” models. hope this is ok to post, thanks all

A quick search suggests they’re nonstick coated, meaning you’re going to be ingesting any PTFE “forever chemicals” that flake off. I would not use it.

My wife was able to buy a replacement basket from Ninja; that might be the easiest method though perhaps not as cost-effective

this is probably my last resort if i can’t get the rust off, less waste than replacing the whole thing. i really don’t think the previous owner took good care of it, there was a ton of food grime as well

definitely replace it. If rust got into the coating, youll run the risk of eating whatever flakes off
