Is the goal transphobia or is transphobia the guiding principle? I don’t imagine them thinking “we should do/say this to be transphobic” but more going “because of transphobic beliefs we have, we believe we should do this”.

I think it’s an important distinction between a more widespread unconscious problematic belief within society which permeates everything and must be addressed through deep roots (cultural revolution type beat) and a consciously held and enforced idealism upon which removing the enforcers would solve the problem (just vote out the transphobes)

we should do/say this to be transphobic

No, they literally do start with “I hate trans people/they make me uncomfortable/whatever so we should do this to hurt them”. The purpose is eliminating us.

as far as goals, it seems to me that this kind of reactionary political project uses transphobia in the same way it uses homophobia and misogyny as ideological tools to enforce ‘normalcy’ (e.g. patriarchal nuclear family). then when people don’t or can’t adhere to these norms, that is the justification to cut them out of the social safety net, which in turn supports gutting the state.
