    Look at maduro-coffee and his left hand. The forearm is rotated inward. Normally, holding the steering wheel with both hands, the pilot/captain would have them in a neutral position, to be able to turn with equal ease in both directions. Twisting the thumb inward, into the position shown, gives the user more leverage to turn the wheel counterclockwise, i.e. a hard left turn. And Jesus is supporting this movement with his right hand and steadying Maduro (not the wheel) with his left.
