I think the context here is that the US is pulling out of the war, and Russia is giving them an out. Trump can now say that Russian terms are acceptable and proceed to further normalize relations, meanwhile if Europe and Ukraine don’t like the deal then they’re on their own.
yeah I guess I mean what other terms are associated with this. there’s a big difference between russia offering to ‘…stop along the current line of conflict if ukraine fires the azov nazis into the sun’ versus ‘we’ll stop along the current line of conflict and allow euro/NATO ‘peacekeepers’ to deploy in ukraine’
Russian terms have remained the same throughout the conflict. Russia demands that Ukraine will not join NATO, that it will not be able to host foreign troops on its territory, or make military agreements without Russian consent. They insist on denazification, and drastic reduction of Ukrainian military. Ukraine will have to revert back to neutrality in its constitution, and restore equality for Russian language/culture.
