Alberta Premier Danielle Smith said the government will be requiring parental notification and consent if a child 15 years or younger changes their name and pronouns at school.

Conservatives in Canada are following the American republican playbook to the letter. This should make you angry.

It drives me nuts. These people long to live in a shithole, but instead of moving to an established shithole they’d rather make a new one.

It’s like I’ve always said - these people are diarrhea and Canada is a pool. A little bit is manageable, but it doesn’t take much to get to the point of no return. You can’t just scoop the diarrhea out of the water.

Pool poopers always embolden others. Look the water is already brown, I didn’t do it, speaking of colors we need to get back to our “rich traditions” and pretend we all came from northern Europe and restrict immigration and btw, our kids need more guns and prescription drugs aren’t accessible enough and why do we have all these social programs draining national productivity…

Zero tolerance for these fuckers, they will not stop once they get a platform and will destroy your society, economy and democracy.

Let’s be absolutely clear about something; vulnerable children will die because of this.

Anyone who supports this will have blood on their hands, plain and simple.

Is there data that shows lower suicide rate when transgender support (?) is provided?

*Not sure if support is the right word, but just generally curious if there’s data around this sort of thing

Yes, support and gender affirming care does reduce the rate of suicide.

It’s the same any time you treat a person like a person and with respect. Every time a marginalised group gets accepted and understood, more of them survive. The less people saying they are evil or not deserving of care, the more survive. The less we restrict things thay will help them, more survive. This has been proven time and again.

They don’t care. Quite the opposite, really: in their mind, that’s one less deviant. Win-win.

The whole point of anti-trans hysteria, which will become ant-gay hysteria and, eventually anti-whatever-the-ingroup-is hysteria, is to other people and make them less than human, so that their deaths are immaterial, if not encouraged.

Ever wonder how Germany got to the point where it was acceptable to make Jewish people into soap? This is how it starts.

Ehhh, that’s assuming a lot. The parents would also need to withhold their consent, and this does nothing to censor their peer’s speech (your friends can call you whatever you want).

The only thing that is assumed is that all of our evidence so far is valid, and human nature hasn’t fundamentally changed suddenly.

It’s easy to say that people will die as a result of this legislation because we’ve seen it happen already. Suicide rates among trans youth go up when protections are removed. Forcing teachers to involve parents in dangerous situations isn’t just harmful, it is INTENTIONALLY harmful.

Oh, shit, yeah, you’re totally right, because trans kids are never born to transphobic parents.

Thank God you reminded us all that that’s a thing that literally never happens. You’re so smart, and your contributions to this conversation are super helpful.

Why would that be an insult in this context?

You’re basically saying “Hey everyone, get a load of this guy. He totally cares about protecting vulnerable children from harm.”

Honestly, thank you for the compliment. I really appreciate it.

Good on Danielle, for really stepping up her game.

Previously she was letting people die from lack of healthcare and support, but she’s finally stepped up to the plate and announced that she’s willing to commit murder.

Holy shit! Not knowing whether you were joking or not, I did a basic wikipedia search. Unless someone has vandalized her page, you’re right.

So who is she to talk? Why aren’t interviewers pressing her on this?
