I don’t think any President actually declared a cold war, which is different then the war on drugs and the war on terror. The cold war did however have a great effect on the USA economy, the military industrial complex, and also prompted the second red scare. Which led to many people losing their rights, citizenship and livelihood.

We have totally been involved in proxy wars since ww2 and some have argued we are in 2 now both in Ukraine and in Gaza.

I don’t know where exactly the line is drawn, or how exactly war is defined. And I do believe that words have meanings. Which is why when a sitting president declares a war on drugs there are consequences and the USA can now execute people on an alleged “drug boat” without much resistance.

I believe it’s our job to recognize and call out things like this, among other things.

Good point about the Cold War, it is more a term for academics to talk about that time in history.

Just one more thing to point out, there was also a number of regime changes the US was responsible for during that time frame. They often amounted to usurping a democracy and installing a fascist dictator.

I think it is astute to say we are in two proxy wars right now. Selling weapons is one of our favorite past times.

I think you make an excellent point about the war on drugs and blowing up a “drug” boat. I never thought of it that way.

I appreciate you.wanting to call things out. I to want to call things out when I see them. It is very important because a lot of people don’t see things. I would miss a lot of it wasn’t for everyone else.
