Had this in Malaysia. I had to eat it outside for obvious reasons. So good. You either love it or hate it.
This reminds me of my circumcision…
I was going to say that it reminded me of your circumcision.
Thank you for coming by my DIY class, you aced it with minimal bandages!
I’ll see my way out…
Jesus Christ, everything reminds you of your circumcision
The letter J wasn’t even invented until the year 1524 AD. Therefore, logically speaking, I do not believe in Jesus. Now if they speak and write original Hebrew, maybe I might pay more attention, but they done chopped the language up so much that I don’t even have any clue what the original names of January, June and July were.
Anyways, I talk shit sometimes, but no, I didn’t actually circumcise myself. Who invented that idea anyways?
I actually don’t mind the way durian tastes, but I find the smell to be off-putting enough that the whole experience is ruined for me
When I initially saw this, I though it was a picture of how drugs got smuggled in pineapples… 🤦
Glad you like it, i never had one because the price is not peasant friendly 😅
Have you tried the other variant?

Ohh man, you should try it if you have the chance again, while musang king is the most pungent and sweetest(and the most expensive before being dethroned by black thorn), it doesn’t have other flavour like bitterness and alcoholic taste which imo really add to the taste.
I do like durians. I’ve also never had issues with the smell. After learning how many people don’t like the smell, I do notice that the smell does linger for quite some time

I hoped durian would be one of those tastes better than it smells foods, but unfortunately to me it tastes exactly like it smells.
To me the taste is fine, but you can’t eat it without also smelling it so you’re eating tasty fruit while smelling rotting corpse. When I smell a rotting corpse I don’t want to eat fruit, or anything really.
For many (most ?) people who learn to like durian, a switch happens inside the brain, and the smell becomes appetizing. The first few times I encountered durian, I thought the smell was vile - but I’ve become a durian lover eventually, and they smell delicious to me now.
Funny enough I also like stinky cheeses, but still find them stinky (even though I like the taste) - for some reason it’s different with fruit.
I love stinky cheese and I love the smell. I also love every fruit I’ve ever tasted, but the smell of durian never changed for me.
I’m still uncertain, of course, I’m in the US so I’ve never had fresh durian
Probably not fresh, but they do sell durian in asian supermarkets

my mom is filipino, I am very aware of this food. Not for me lol, but i’m glad people can enjoy it haha
Question for OP, were you exposed to durian when you were young? I notice that pretty much everybody I know who weren’t, hate durian
I had my first durian at 35, and it has become one of my favorite things ever.
I’ve managed to convert at least one person as well - friend of mine (we were mid 40s at the time) didn’t like it at first, but the second time he came around, and now loves it as well.
Sometimes I order the unique varieties from Year of the Durian - the diversity of durian flavors is mind blowing honestly, it’s not all Monthong or Musang King, there are some crazy durians out there.
Damn. I might need to travel to other places to try them out

I’ve tried fresh durian a few times, definitely not for me
