if only teachers made money based on how well their students learned subject matter. but that is not the case. industry makes money when it works. teachers get raises even when standardized test scores are thrown out the door. public education is funded by the public, BUT the public rarely get to decided on what should be taught, or the minimum level of education needed to graduate.
