it really was terrible, my dad’s grandpa lost all his land (he had a LOT) and he had to make ends meet by uh… being employed as an agricultural engineer (his actual training) and managing a big state-owned farm. he got to retire in peace. his daughter went to university and became a doctor, eventually the head doctor of a nursing home.

just really awful fates, all around, especially for class enemies.

my mom’s family had basically nothing before communism but they’re now solidly “middle class”.

just absolutely inhuman conditions.
