    Oh yes, the classic “the poor people are secretly happy and that bothers me” argument. It’s like a cat call for stupid people. The whole point of it is to say “you’re not allowed to have anything remotely nice because I consider myself better than you.”

    It’s mental illness made into a political platform.

      Their position is more accurately something like “If I have to pay for you to have things, you shouldn’t be allowed to have nicer things than I can afford.”

        Apply that analysis to the mustard argument in the post. It’s ridiculous. Nobody is using food stamps to buy a Porsche. If their life is made a little better because an extra bit of my tax dollars went into fancy mustard I’d consider that nothing short of a bargain.

        That argument is literally gatekeeping fucking mustard. If you can’t spring for the grey poupon then being that much stingier with your taxes is not going to be enough to solve your problem anyways. You just want others to suffer because you suffer, which harkens back to my original point that is mental illness.
