FTFY, lol. Case in point: They’re all coming up with various anti-trans laws. Those make people’s lives more miserable, but I don’t see how those make anyone get richer.
It gets ignorant people riled up about things that aren’t issues so they emotionally vote in the people who give the rich tax breaks and other benefits that increase their wealth.
For example, there is no actual trans related bathroom issue that requires making bathroom laws. But getting people riled up about lies that make them afraid gets conservative votes.
It’s scapegoating. They may not care one way or another, but finding a marginalized group for everyone to get outraged over is a classic way to manipulate emotions, and Conservatives have a long history of hopping from one scapegoat to the next, trying to keep outrage high
