So I have ‘just started reading’. After a lifetime of being dyslexic and thinking I disliked books, I’ve realised that if I find something in my wheel house and with a little perseverance of getting over the inital hump, I’m really enjoying it. However a few months after reading a book, I’ve kind of forgotten the finer points and details I enjoyed. Does anyone write up books they’ve read and what tips have you got/do you have any templates?

Can I ask if you refer back to them ?

I have a Kobo Libre Colour with a meta pen and a cover the Libre and pen sit in. I travel a bit (slow travel for leisure) and it’s a super convenient way to take 100s of books with me and as I read (non fiction) I too take notes in the book. I highlight a passage and add a note or just go digital old fashioned and scrawl in the margin BUT i have caught myself wondering why as I have not once referenced back to any notes or high lighted passage

I am currently reading this book

and doing exactly that but why? if I am not going to refer to them ? It’s like I am compelled to go ahah! so insightful, mark it, then completely forget about it :)

i also read fiction but never take notes etc.

    sorry to thread-jack op…

Occasionally, yes, if it is information i need to remember. Often times, however, the act of writing notes is enough. Physically writing notes, even if you won’t re-read them, has been proven to be one of the most effective ways to remember information, and I can also speak anecdotally that it works.
