I think part of the problem with this style of show is that they’ll write a new menus or drink specials that doesn’t lean into the strengths (if any) of the staff or take into account what people in the local area like to eat/drink. They just do stuff that’s interesting for TV. Plus sometimes the work culture is the real culprit and you can almost never change that without mass firings and if the owners the problem…

Venezuela is a shit show politically by any measure and no US Empire whataboutism can change that. It’s possible to call out Maduro and call out the US. Sometimes there is no good guy, just bad guys and worse guys.

When Fidel was in charge, it absolutely was a dictatorship. That his brother took over from him is a little clue to that fact. Now I’m less certain. Since the Communist party in Cuba has some actually well meaning people in it, there’s a possibility that with the old guard dead or retired they may cease being a dictatorship.

Considering how cheap life is in Russia, and how expensive recruitment bonuses are, I’m surprised they haven’t already switched to conscription which they have a long history of.

I’ve heard of plenty of cases were people (or their next of kin) didn’t get shit. I’ll grant that that was from the first 2 years of the war, maybe they got their act together.

Not that I would work at a kitchen as bad as the ones on TV but having worked in restaurants, I’m surprised these kitchen nightmare type shows don’t have the host get punched by the staff periodically. Line cooks can be salty.

Alot of people in the comments griping but it’s not hard to label a veggie patty a “veggie patty” or a “vegan patty” or a “mushroom patty” or to refer to the sandwich it winds up being a part of a “sandwich” instead of a “burger”.

I feel that way about the veggie patties a job I worked used to sell. No attempt to copy the flavor or texture of beef, they were just doing their own thing. Sometimes I’d actually be in the mood for one.
