I didn’t theorize anything though. I told you why I, personally, hit that downvote button. And I have definitely been downvoted for being an asshole here. I know I deserve it sometimes.

As for people not wanting to talk about VA. I have no opinion on that. I only have a few friends in VA and none of them are the type to tell me how they feel about a local election.

I downvoted because you are just toeing the usual ‘alberta is special and here is why the rest of you have to adapt’ bullshit that we have heard a million times. Get over it. We are not all misled into thinking that most of the province is regressive. That is how it is.

The majority of that province is hateful morons being super proud of themselves. I lived there for 20 years, my wife for all of her life. So don’t go saying I am just following the herd. The facts are simply that outside of calgary and edmonton the vast majority of albertans are insular xenophobes.

Are you seeing a ton of small towns in any other province where the town meetings are full of assholes bleating about wanting to join the US? Because I can tell you right now the acme, beiseker, trochu, three hills, irricana, and carbon, town meetings are FULL of these fucking people.

Yup that’s one of the sources for the godawful amount of hair mousse they all use. And accounts for some of the ‘eau de halitosis’ odour they all have.

just as a counterpoint, I live in the forest and it would take a very, very serious problem for me to even consider moving to a small town. nonetheless a city.

we lived in a bunch of different countries and a bunch of different cities over the last 15 years and I intended to never live in another city again.

having the forest friends follow me around as I do morning chores is how life was meant to be. if I could just find a way to stretch that into my whole day I’d be the happiest man on Earth.

The problem with this is that a lot of these people have been shitting on their neighbors and their entire neighborhoods for decades because they think they are the special snowflake who can survive anything by themselves and don’t need any community.

When those fucks are also broke and they come asking for help a lot of us are going to tell them to get fucked.

Those of us who’ve been building intentional communities and support systems will be a little better off, but we’re going to be wasting a lot of time trying to fight off raiders from the aforementioned group above. thankfully they’ll probably be coming single file because they won’t help each other either.

My mother who is 65 started getting tattoos when she turned 50 and now has 38 of them I think. Including hands and face.

That woman is a force of nature.
