Holytimes@sh.itjust.worksto Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL there's a federated Tumblr alternative called WAFRNEnglish2·1 day agoI mean you have to just be obliviously stubborn or ignorant to reality to not understand. Cause it’s really god damn simple.
It’s not simple to use the alternative foss software in most cases, it’s not simple to even find out about them in the first place, and people generally speaking arnt actually effected in any real meaningful negative way that they care about from their current solution.
It’s not complex.
Holytimes@sh.itjust.worksto PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•New Steam study alleges that Valve's store is home to extreme right-wing "wars"English3·1 day agoI find the hoi thing funny cause I play it just for the my little pony mod. All I can picture is a bunch of Nazi bronies now.
I also am well aware there’s a very large and sizeable Nazi community inside the brony fandom and it’s highly problematic.
Holytimes@sh.itjust.worksto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is anyone NOT steaming their Music?2·2 days agoIv had a single subscription for like a decade. YouTube red or premium or what the fuck ever it’s called.
Cost me 7.99 I stream my music from YouTube.
The moment YouTube stops grandfathering me in is the moment I go right back to just pirating everything. They have threatened to raise the praise for grandfathered plans a few times and never went though with it. They have threatened to add ads, or change features and never went though with it.
8 dollars is entirely an acceptable price for functionally unlimited music and TV.
I use the service so I pay for the service. It’s convenient, functional and there are no ads.
Works on my PC, phone and while I’m in the car with no fiddling.
If I had to pick a service to use to today I would just go with Bandcamp or pirate the fuck out of everything.
Seriously what Gabe said decades ago was turn then and now. Piracy is a service problem. A affordable, fair and customer friendly service will be worth paying for. Companies just keep making shit worse then what the value prop is.
And frankly I would spend like 40 bucks a month on CDs, so 8 bucks is perfectly acceptable. And I don’t personally see any fucking reason to own a copy of my music. That just cost storage space.
I keep a simple txt file with a list of all the songs and albums I enjoy the most so if I need to I can easily just go get a copy of them when and if I need to. And not waste space on meaningless files that I have on demand access too.
As someone who is unbelievably aromantic. A vibe and a silicon stick does it for me. Brain like happy chemicals. Brain no care about attachment.
The biological urge once sated I can return to 20 year old games.
If God didn’t intend for man to stick things up his butt. God wouldn’t have put mans fun button up his butt.
Check mate atheists.

Holytimes@sh.itjust.worksto News@lemmy.world•There’s a growing number of Americans who think violence might be necessary to get the country back on track8·2 days agoThere are only two things that counter propaganda.
Extreme direct violence. Since by necessity propaganda requires you to be at least 1 stepped remove from physical interaction.
Or long term mass and mandatory education and social freedom.
The second one isn’t viable at the moment so…

Holytimes@sh.itjust.worksto Technology@lemmy.world•Disney reportedly lost 1.7 million paid subscribers in the week after suspending KimmelEnglish161·4 days agoPalestine isn’t American, it’s some far off place that most people have no connection to, no care for or about. And people generally have enough fucking problems in their own life to care about a place they likely will die before visiting or giving two shits about. So beyond just being yet another random thing the news yaps about to keep people scared. It’s just not important to most people.
While Kimmel himself may not matter to many. The situation does directly affect the world and problem many Americans are worried about. It’s a literal representation of the turmoil that fills many Americans minds.
Not to mention Kimmel is a famous person that people know and have heard of. So his problem actually makes it to the ears of those that will resonate with the problem that his situation is in relation to.
You on the other hand are a literal nobody by comparison that no one but yourself and your immediate group will give any weight to your words.
Not to mention the hell does Palestine have to do with Disney…? That’s an extremely tenuous connection.
Its a shitty fact that just cause something’s important doesn’t mean people can care about it. We all have a limit, and if your own ducks arnt in a row worrying about others is a good way to drive yourself to madness and help no one.
Considering it use to be like 0.05 cents a piece yes.

Most revolutions in the long term are ultimately a good thing.
You don’t get revolutions with out things being very very bad, so any change is almost always good.
Even if it takes a few attempts and misteps on a long enough time scale you would be hard pressed to find any revolution that was truly bad.
The entire reason revolutions are considered bad is because to get there and the process of is so insanely destructive.
With sufficient money literally nothing is too expensive. This is a singular universal truth of money. No matter it’s form.
Be it currency, power, influence, territory or goods. With enough all things are with in reach.
It’s why fundamentally no matter what form of economics humans or animals have had in all of history. The more you have the better.
This is such a universal truth that even animals and plants are beholden to it.

Iv basically never met a farmer that wasn’t some shade of the stereotypical dipshits who is scared of cities and thinks wifi will make them sterile.
Almost never meet a farmer who isn’t mechanically gifted, unreasonably knowledgeable and a quick study either.
It’s so baffling fucking confusing. Like how is it these traits manage to coexist in such a large range of people.
