Jim@lemm.eeto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What immediately makes you lose respect for someone?1·2 years agoBlasting music/videos on their shitty phone speaker in public. If you really don’t have headphones, at least turn it down or hold the speaker closer to your ear so you’re not just annoying everyone in a 10-meter radius.
Nobody on Lemmy is under the age of 30.
Although I might feel 30 sometimes, I’ll have you know I’m a ripe 28 & ¾

Whenever I hear people say “money can’t buy happiness,” I think they’re forgetting that sometimes happiness is just having all your needs met.
Imo blocked users get less engagement, therefore it helps to some degree.
Also, unlike reddit, it’s somewhat difficult to browse the Fediverse without being logged in.I’d guess that if any problematic content does slip through, it reaches a much smaller audience than if it were to slip through on reddit just because of how things are decentralized here.edit: I tried it again and I now agree that it is easier to browse with an account. I saw a lot more content than the first time I tried it ~2 months ago
It is called ‘boofing’ and the number of people that do it is more than 0. Because of how the body absorbs substances that way, people can get a stronger effect than consuming them orally.
-Ash: I’m leaving
-Meme Guy: It’s time.
-Team Rocket: We’re leaving too.
-Meme Guy: No, please.

Jim@lemm.eeto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is the most unhelpful advice you have received?English1·2 years agoCoincidentally, I know someone who recently applied for a regular teacher’s assistant role and when they got to the interview the hiring director didn’t even ask questions about that position; instead they interviewed for a special ed job and then only offered that. It was a total bait & switch to try and fill a role nobody was applying for.
I got to stage dive at a packed concert, like 4 times. There were a bunch of other people doing it and it seemed like the band playing was even encouraging people to, so I just had to squeeze my way to the front of the crowd and climb up on stage to try it myself. It was just as much fun as I imagined. The other people there were really cool about it too and helped jumpers get caught/let down safely
Jim@lemm.eeto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are some things you do to make being productive easier when unmotivated and lethargic?0·2 years agoJust do a small fraction of what needs to be done. If I commit 1-2 minutes to the task I’ll likely do more once I actually get going.
They were great. I think it was around 2015-2016, and I still have a Chon pin from the show too!
Woah, I’ve actually been to a Chon show. Totally didn’t expect to see that band pop up in this thread
Jim@lemm.eeto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Now that we are all switching to Lemmy, now is the time for all the redditors with embarrassing usernames to make their username right! Don't screw up this time!1·2 years agoIn case you didn’t know, PoppinKream is here on the Fediverse now. That’s a good sign that more well-known users could migrate here
Jim@lemm.eeto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What was "The Incident" at work that caused an exodus in the work force?2·2 years agoMost satisfying comment in the thread. A true “fuck around and find out” story
I was hoping to see a format that people can easily follow and just fill in the blanks, but I suppose this is the gist of it: Describe the main purpose of the photo succinctly rather than each and every individual thing you can see.
