Yes. I was almost three years old. I don’t remember much, but I do remember that I started to sing during the wedding ceremony when my parents knelt at the altar. Of course no one else sung.
I also remember that the priest scared the shit out of me and that my godfather “fell asleep” in the toilet and had to be carried to a car. I learned years later that he had severe social anxiety which he treated with liquor.
I did this with my friends when we went to Thailand. We were enjoying the delicious taste on a beach, two Australian guys were wanted to try it. They both spat it out instantly and the other one got so mad we thought he’s actually going to attack us.
After he calmed down a bit he demanded to see us drink it to be sure we hadn’t tricked him to drink poison. So we downed the entire 1 litre bottle to appease him. It was the start of a great day that lasted for few days.
I tried American chocolate once. It tasted like vomit aftertaste.

The headline of the article is misleading. No one is laying “pre-emptive” minefields at their borders for civilians to waltz in, withdrawal from the Ottawa agreement means that anti-personnel landmines are an option if Russia starts massing troops on their side of the border.
I’ve trained with landmines during my military service and they are truly horrible things. I hope we never have to use them again.
I’d hug my mom. Then I’d go ask the pretty next door girl for a date; I lesrned later in life that she also had a crush on me at the time, but since I was plain looking and slightly overweight nerd I never thought I’d hsve any chance with her.
After getting that out of my system I’d do the obligatory investing.

Otherwise I’m perfectly happy with Lemmy, people are generally much nicer and there’s more than enough content. Reddit was so overbloated that this smaller universe is quite enough for me.
I assume it was a generalization, just few weeks ago I installed 32-bit Linux Mint to two laptops from 2007 or 2008, now my kids have their very own and fully functional computers. They do lag a bit sometimes, but learning patience is just good for the kids.
Hell, they would get unconditional surrender just by promising to send a few battallions of unarmed female troops over.

Yep. My brother has at least 4 streaming subscriptions that add up to closer to 100$ per month. I once asked him how much he actually uses them and his response was: “I don’t know, many times a week! But it’s nice to have them if I want to watch something!”
To me the idea of basically throwing away more than 1000$ per year is simply horrifying.
I get them by ripping CD:s or digitizing vinyl albums.

I burned an audio CD just a few weeks ago. My car doesn’t have Bluetooth audio, so I’ve kept going old school all along. I bought a few stacks of empty CD-R’s and DVD-R’s when the stores wanted to get rid of them.
I have zero streaming subscriptions and no intention of getting any. The number of films, games and music albums I’ve bought from flea markets and second hand stores during the past 10 years has to be in the hundreds. And not one has cost more than 3$.
Even my kids haven’t complained about the lack of streaming, they seem perfectly happy using my physical media library.
I read the LOTR and The Silmarillion to my son when he was young, his opinion of the bad guys was crystal clear:

I checked the specs of the TM-62, the standard fuze should require a pressure of 1500-5500N (150-550kg) to detonate. So the dragging should not have triggered it, unless the fuze was faulty - which would not be impossible considering the subpar quality of the Russian gear.
You may be right. My friend was trained as a sapper and he often talked about the importance of positioning the charges correctly. Even the simplest AT mines are designed to direct the most of the blast on the up-down - axis, to maximize the damage.
And like somebody already wrote, the cameraman could judt have been a dead man walking his final steps. The blast should have caused massive internal damage at that range. Maybe someone just salvaged the memory card of the camera/phone afterwards.
I thought it looked just like a TM-62 too, but the blast made me think again. I’ve seen those things go boom, I just can’t believe that the cameraman could be walking after that.
If if had been a TM-62, at that range the blast would have quite certainly made sure there would be no footage left to view. It had to be a directional mine.
It would not hurt to try. Using your phone to record your singing may not be the best idea, the microphone is so small that singing even with normal volume gets the recording easily distorted.
USB-connected microphones are pretty cheap and will perform much better, just hook one to a laptop and use any simple recording software.
And I recommend starting small with children’s songs. “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” with it’s straightforward ascending and descending melody is a great starter, or at least for me it was.
That is the reason I practiced the first two years in my room at lullaby volume.
My old Xperia Z5 Compact was the only phone I’ve ever owned that had decent speakers. You could actually listen music with them without getting pissed off. It was small and had amazing audio capabilities and great camera, easily the best phone I’ve ever owned.
But listening music / watching videos in public with your phone speakers on is an abomination. It should be made illegal everywhere.
