Then one by one they started locking their crap down or making tools available for it poor enough that custom rom support died out.

I wonder if people will use this opportunity to make Nintendo a word that ends up having to enter review.

Lemmy is linked on their site too
Yeah and people like us are the most likely to recommend alternatives to Gmail to regular users who likely don’t go out of their way searching for other options.
It is listed in their community page which adds to the confusion.
I checked since I wondered if there was some other place they are active on other than reddit and Twitter, and if they had their own forum.
Proton marketing itself on privacy while recently calling out the danger of tech oligarchs makes their decision to leave Mastodon and keep using Twitter very confusing. Lot of mixed signals.

NightOwl@lemmy.oneto World News@lemmy.world•Tesla sales crash 45% in Europe as rivals surge, Musk’s politics spark backlashEnglish3·4 months agoI moved out of Tesla to BYD stocks couple months ago just based on the output and price of their cars and feeling that tariffs aren’t going to keep them out forever. Looking good so far.

PC launchers though is one that can be started even by you on Windows or Linux with the difficulty being getting customers as opposed to whether you are even allowed to make a launcher in the first place.
NightOwl@lemmy.oneto Games@sh.itjust.works•Gabe Newell says no-one in the industry thought Steam would work as a distribution platform—'I'm not talking about 1 or 2 people, I mean like 99%'English42·7 months agoCompanies still fear piracy so DRM isn’t going anywhere, and companies are still reluctant to release games on PC.
Hate of monopolies is one I have when a company uses their position to make products worse than it was before like Sony and Nintendo moving to charging for multiplayer. And it’s a monopoly on a platform they don’t control. There’s no regulatory body preventing launchers from popping up like broadband expansion being blocked by government lobbying like traditional monopolies.
When steam shifts in bad direction I’ll complain too. For now I haven’t found reason to complain about Steam. I like the product Steam offers simple as that. I don’t care about the personalities of the CEO or how much money it makes. It’s not some checkmark of X is Y so must hate.
NightOwl@lemmy.oneto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Celebrities will never adopt the Fediverse until usernames are centralized.English2·10 months agoBut people here don’t really care that much about celebrities being here and maybe not even their username being unique. Could probably be anon1, anon2, etc and it wouldn’t matter that much, since real identity is probably not a draw for them. Focus on regular people wanting the userbase to want to use fediverse rather than celebrities which is an off-putting first impression and point of sale for lot of people here.
You need to pivot is what I’m saying to achieve what you want.
NightOwl@lemmy.oneto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Celebrities will never adopt the Fediverse until usernames are centralized.English10·10 months agoI’m not here for celebrities and they will always flock to centralized platforms anyways, since they are all about the views.
I enjoyed memes back in the forum days because they weren’t frequent with it being more discussion base, so when they showed up it’d have a tendency to actually be funny. But, move towards generating meme content quickly diluted the experience of memes with forcing of memes.
I never tried anything other than old.reddit.com. And I’ll never try the dreadful reddit app. Redesign has always been trash and terrible at loading content and pushes trash topics at users.
NightOwl@lemmy.oneto Technology@lemmy.world•DoorDash, delivery apps remove tipping prompt at checkout in NYCEnglish16·2 years agoCurrent system seems like capitalists dream of underpaying employees as much as possible and having the narrative pass the blame to be between customers and workers.
And even better that workers will argue against actually being guaranteed a higher salary in favor of this system on the off chance they might get more. Sort of like gamblers who get off the high of that one big win. Either way, the shift away from having to pay full salaries and benefits is cause for celebration for owners, since they love that it’s more likely they don’t get blamed and instead the customer when the owner has enough money to take home profits and live well instead of struggling like their employees being paid the bare minimum.
It’s pretty much the absolute ideal situation for them. No blame and lower expenses. And most wonderful part of it all is workers being expected to cover the salaries of other workers as opposed to the people at top, so they continue to win in every facet.
NightOwl@lemmy.oneto Technology@lemmy.world•PlayStation To Delete A Ton Of TV Shows Users Already Paid ForEnglish44·2 years agoPeople this doesn’t affect are pirates. People who get to enjoy their media without worry are pirates. When pirates are getting the better experience and it’s customers who are getting affected what incentive is there to not pirate other than personal morals. Because it sure isn’t for a better product.
NightOwl@lemmy.oneto Technology@lemmy.world•Car dealers say they can’t sell EVs, tell Biden to slow their rolloutEnglish6·2 years agoYeah, hate haggling. Never know if it is actually a good deal, and tracking prices and deals is so unreliable compared other goods with the way those have historic price tracking recorded on sites like camelcamelcamel or keepa. Keeps consumers in the dark with only a broad idea of what isn’t a scam price and making the experience as exhausting as possible to extract money from them.
Only thing is when it came to Google I started wondering who would gain from the break up in this administration. And thought of Musk coming in to control the most popular browser in the world with chrome and phone OS with Android.
So I can’t help but look at this with skepticism. And he’d probably receive Russian and Saudi financial backing to purchase and control whatever is up for grabs like was rumored with Twitter when it came to how he came up with the money
This hasn’t been normal times and rules and laws don’t apply.
