Cant speak for the US, but in general, Covid is still more dangerous during the acute infection than the flu and also causes much larger numbers of post-viral sequelae. Those are all potential reasons to recommend the vaccine, which can reduce the severity of both

Peajee@lemmy.worldtoMicroblog Memes@lemmy.world•"Never forget" x "It's over, get back to normal"English21·5 months agoI think the major difference between even just Influenza and Covid is, that Covid continues to have a greater disease burden than influenza and a higher percentage of people with post-acute sequela of different forms and is less restricted to the winter months, having roughly two waves per year.
All together, why should we not implement strategies to reduce these numbers of deaths and disabilities? Especially if they would, in the case of better air filtration and ventilation also help tackle future occurances of airborne pathogens.
Well, proper infrastructure definitely makes car “accidents” much less likely. Also deaths should not be the only statistic here, much more people get disabled by cars than killed
