This is an unexpected benefit of being in Switzerland. Here I was thinking it was more or less a marketing thing

Now that is someone who has thought about this question a lot

The whole country could disappear and it would barely make a difference.
Surely they have bigger things to focus on?

Has anyone else on the ground felt the impacts of these layoffs?
Maybe it is an Australian thing?
In 2009 the school I went to got aircon
I have lived in very few houses that have had aircon, if they did it was evaporative and near useless. The house I am currently in is getting aircon installed next week.
It might be hot in Australia, but mainly we just built houses with insolation and fly screens.
PersonalDevKit@aussie.zoneto Data Is Beautiful@lemmy.ml•Life expectancy 1870-2021 China, Russia and World avarage4·1 年前It would be interesting to see this not including infant mortality.
From my understanding that is where most of the “life gain” in graphs like this have come from.
A graph of how much older people are living would be better represented “ignoring” for lack of a better word the babies dying
I feel like aircon wasn’t as common back then, especially strong enough to cool all of that

PersonalDevKit@aussie.zoneto science@lemmy.world•Playground bullies do prosper – and go on to earn more in middle age1·1 年前Worth saying I am sort of playing devils advocate here.
Change it to what? It is easy to back seat yell “Capitalism Bad” but change to what? Every other isim has it’s own laundry list of issues. Which one is least corruptible by sosciopaths?
You don’t think sosciopaths are going to take more than there fair share in socialism, or skew the system over time? They aren’t going to find their may to the top in every single form of government to change the rules to their desires?
Quite a few will argue that we aren’t even in capatalisim any more, it has been corrupted and changed, massaged by “government” to the point of failure, the Austrian school of economics.
So it is easy to stand on the roof top and say “Capitalism is the problem” but it seems like a much deeper rot to me

But you will end up filling any screen space you have. When coding I very quickly fill out the space, to see files and folders I am intereacting with, communication apps, websites, IDE, ticket screen. Some days I wish I had 4.
