If you have a generation or two of kids who were told to get educated about statistics then have them be unable to pay off student loans, buy a house, afford to raise a kid (much less 2.1 of them), or own much of anything as time goes on in their adult life while the stock market booms and the richest people who underpaid those generations and treated them as disposable then ask them to have more kids for the economy which only worked for the rich people you can see the problem. You can see why states that oppose abortion and support child marriage, hate education, but love guns, end up being places which may have higher teen births but will not keep their young there for long, that is until you consider liberal safe havens having all the housing bought and paid for by multinational conglomerates, or billionaires who leech off the earnings of the future while being a significant drain on the economy and their own future profits and growth. The fact that this has happened globally just means that global investments without global enforcement of things such as labor laws and minimum wages seems to have been a net negative with a delayed interest payment on that issue coming due. I think what will eventually happen is what happened after the black death, more rights, freedoms, and finances for the average person and the rich having to suck it up, not with a period of terror but just a lack of both the labor needed for the market and consumers to buy the products they want to sell (I know it sounds like they are irreconcilable but if someone invested all their money in companies that produce things or services spending money to keep those businesses afloat may be better than having their financial empire crumble), and maybe actually finding a solution to things like global warming, and who was in the Epstein files and what came after he was caught. Maybe real accountability, or maybe that’s a pipe dream.

Switzerland is one of the most militarized countries where all citizens, male citizens that is, are required to complete a term of service and can be called up in times of war. They haven’t been invaded since Napoleon Bonaparte and have not declared war either. The Vatican is happy to hire the Swiss guard, actual members of the Swiss military, to guard them and despite what Swiss companies like Nestlé do they are generally neutral and open to trade with all countries, all while having the most nuclear bunkers, and defensive posts for any country, with the possible exception of Romania, I believe, who didn’t plan them out and built them everywhere to prevent Soviet invasion from Russia. Switzerland is peaceful because France, Germany, Austria, and Italy were disincentivized militarily from invasion due to the cost to reward ratio, Czechoslovakia on the other hand was invaded by Nazi germany because they were forced to be neutral and were forced to give up their military defenses to Nazi germany. There is a difference between a military spending increase by a country for defensive reasons (usually more Democratic nations) and being a belligerent nation, who when it is an autocracy tends not to increase military spending much until they absolutely need to (such as Nazi military spending didn’t increase by much until 1944, and not in 1938-1939 when they were planning for war as the spending increases were put in place under Hindenburg’s presidency when they were still a republic).
Othis isn’t just for videogames either, be it Autodesk getting rid of perpetual licenses and phasing out activations for older licenses, tesla turning the self driving feature from a one time purchase to a subscription, and more and more companies rent seek without actually innovation making their product better, leaving consumers stuck in a situation where they need to try and find competent competitors or the open source community for similar-ish products.
