  • The prequels should have started with the Clone Wars, covering more of Anakin and Obi-Wan’s relationship, with an occasional flashback to the earlier Anakin to fill in his past. Being a fan from the early years, I didn’t like the prequels that much initially, but the story grew on me after watching them a few more times later along with fan commentary over the years. What I do still think they suffer from is making Anakin’s fall too sudden, and if we got a better sense of how much he and Obi-Wan were brothers in spirit, the eventual fall would mean more. There would also be more room to develop the friction he observes with the Jedi Council, maybe even take things to a new level in why they don’t let him progress. I guess I basically see TPM as a wasted first part to better establish his character.

It was rushed, with approval, because people were dying. I wonder if there’s death projections on what-ifs where we waited to get full trials, or we just didn’t do anything. I seem to remember people who believed vaccines did actually help were in favor of quick action.

They are all about trying to pin Biden on mistakes made, maybe even some that are legit. Do they say anything about the President who set things in motion to allow the pandemic to occur to the world? I doubt it.

Would vaporization slow the material though? Perhaps the end result wasn’t a manhole escaping the solar system but a huge collection of microscopic metal fragments scattershot that direction. Which really makes the Mass Effect quote even more relevant to a huge amount of aliens somewhere.

  • I think it’s far better to find someone you can relate to via their personality first. Everyone has their flaws, so if you’re weeding people out first from appearance and then trying to find the person inside to match, that’s killing your odds a lot. That being said, you can hit it off seeing someone first and then learning more about them, but I think that’s more true in real life where you can pick up other signals that online visuals just aren’t going to do, and those subtle signs will filter your image of them, whereas if you had a picture of them online you might skip over.

However I have no experience in the dating game and am biased as I found my wife of 35 years online back in 1985. Rather she found me in randomly looking for someone to chat with and things went from there.

  • It’s well known in the fact that once you’ve run across it and someone explains it, you’ll usually see it later on without trouble after a few times. Although some forms of it are quite subtle, like this one. The title is the hint, otherwise I doubt many would have caught on. That being said, if you never happened across it, you’d wonder what the hell everyone is talking about. About like any other meme really.

  • Using the upvote button to agree isn’t a problem, but it’s more of a problem to use the downvote as a disagree if you’re actually engaging with the person to debate the topic since it in theory lowers the visibility of the original post and your own commentary.

I always liked the idea of having a “recommend post” button, and let the better stuff with more recommendations and replies rise to the top naturally. It also avoids the weird feeling in clicking an upvote/agree/like to a topic that you want to discuss but is negative.
