The people that want to make money are not de facto legitimate. Some people want analog slavery too. Some people want fascism. Some people are serial killers. Some people are Google. I see no value in those people. They do not create content I find interesting. The things they fund are opposed to my principals and democracy. Those people buy and sell a part of me to exploit and manipulate me. Those people are criminals. Those people are bad neighbors and have no place in our communities and neighborhoods. We have a right to open public commons free from piracy, pillaging, and slavery. That is the fundamental flaw. The internet is public commons, not a slave market.

That is not what I said or meant, and it lacks nuance in an unnecessarily insulting way that I find offensive.

Just take pictures. I use FreeCAD. You just add the picture to whatever plane. I usually put a small precision ruler in the image. Then there is a scaling tool. You pick two points in the imported image and it scales the size of the image so that you can easily create sketches that follow the contours.

Don’t print big stuff blind. Copy your designed part, then do a couple quick slices so that you only print a tiny unit test to check the fit of critical areas.

Having a set of printed radius gauges helps to measure. GL

There are some crazies, but I think we all need to normalize just being nice digital neighbors. Life is too short and negative. If you don’t like something, just ignore it. Don’t engage or escalate or down vote. None of us are that important, and being negative makes things worse for all, including, if not especially yourself.

Still depends on the relationship, person, and intent. I can’t speak for others. I may react initially negatively, but I am open to coercion.

Crime is really about intent more than any other factor. Manipulation and coercion can be done with positive and negative intent. If a person manipulates me at a clever level with the best of intentions, I have no problem with it, but again, I only speak for myself.

Your PC is about to get way more expensive anyway. As we near the last nodes limited by physics, the drive to finance the exponential growth fades and there is no reason to operate like has been nominal for the last 6 decades.

No other industry in all of human history has produced exponential growth that outstripped the budget of the largest military. We have lived the end of this anomalous era. That is about to change. The old ways will return. Militaries will dominate because there is no other way to create the same type of exponential growth. Spending so much money to sell magic rusty sand that can then be sold for peanuts after the initial investment is paid is absolutely nuts. The strategy makes late competition impossible. One cannot even buy the hardware to do so. Each node’s hardware is a feat unto itself.

The memory stuff is minor and much more scalable. The last fab node is less than 10 years away, but the actual real world hardware design schedule is 10 years, meaning we are already past the end where the people on the edge have nowhere to go. The entire world will change drastically as a result.

I’m totally liberal friend. I am stupid about a great many things too. I call out the issues I see. I escaped the religion of my birth. I know the fallacy well. I probably abstract on a more broad layer than I manage to communicate. Those things mentioned like grooming and pedophilia are certainly not universal to all members but they are enabled by the collective dogma.

The dogma and institutions create an outsourced imitation of morality and ethics. However, they only possess the mechanisms of shame and guilt to alter behavior. These systems cannot create positive change or growth. They actually incentivise simply not getting caught.

So while everyone is not actively grooming or a pedo, the overall system is fundamentally flawed and enables groomers and pedos in a way that can be construed as universally harmful under the auspice of dogma.

In addition, the culture of dichotomous logic prevents open discussion and actionable help for those that may find children arousing. It is a major failure when the taboo is in such great conflict with the Epstein list where obviously most of elite society has engaged in the behavior.

My issue is that religion is outsourcing of morality and ethics. That is not real morality or ethics at all. It is harmful tribalism. Yeah, I pin dogma to the issue of groomers and pedos because dogma indicts the entire tribalistic structure for the behavior at the margins.

Dogma is bad. It is blind to observable phenomenon and fails to yield to those that are demonstrably smarter. Dogma is subsentient latent animalistic primitivism that elevates ignorance and complacency to parity with a well established and supported reality.

Belief in magic is toxic stupidity that holds back all of humanity. Any denialism of those that rigorously observe and document their findings, while inviting other equally qualified and credentialed experts to review and critique their work, is that bad. the fact that many of these fools inherit vast sums of money is the root cause of all the issues in the western world. A lack of meritocracy is a terminal cancer of which we are in late stage failure due to the penal colony inbred reject Puritans the Europeans purged 300 years ago, and the festering putrid froth simmering in their shadow.
